ALERT! - Chancellor's Faculty Research Day takes place on Thursday, Nov. 5th at 3:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room, main level, Campus Center. Rutgers–Camden is home to some of the most productive emerging and established scholars in the world. Learn more about current research underway at Rutgers–Camden during the first Chancellor’s Faculty Research Day, when several of our junior faculty members will offer brief overviews to their work and answer questions from their faculty colleagues and students. Two of our School of Business faculty, Professors Ivo Jansen and Ronaldo Parente, will be participating. Come support them and learn first-hand about the research they are doing.

School of Business-Camden News Academic Services November 2009 ~ Official Notices Official notices will be published in the Gleaner the first week of the month. Please direct your questions regarding these notices to acadsvcs@camden.rutgers.edu. It is the students’ responsibility to be informed.
1) Important Add/Drop (withdrawal) deadlines for the Fall 2009 Semester A) The last day to withdraw from a course without academic penalty and receive a “W” grade is November 16th. B) The last day to withdraw from all courses without academic penalty and receive a “W” grade is November 24th 2) Scholastic (Academic) Standing A) Any student whose most recent term average is below 2.000, or has a cumulative GPA 2.00-2.499 is issued an academic warning. B) Any student whose cumulative GPA is below 2.00 is placed on academic probation. 1) Students on probation may enroll in no more than 12 credits 2) Students on probation must achieve a semester GPA of at least 2.000 or 2.500, as determined by the applicable Conditions of Probation 3) Students on probation must meet with the Academic Services Office to develop an academic plan for the F 09 semester 4) If the cumulative grade point average does not improve to at least a 2.000 by the end of this semester, or if a student does not fulfill any one of the above conditions, the student may be subject to academic dismissal. 5) Administrative and financial holds may be placed on students’ records who have not met with the Academic Services Office. 3) Intra-University (School to School) Transfers for RSBC Admissions All students who plan to transfer to a different college within the University must do so using the School to School (S2S) intra-university transfer application process. 4) Diploma Applications Effective immediately, diploma applications must be completed and submitted online. Title: Employee Health and Wellbeing
About the Seminar: The seminar will focus both on the case for why businesses are keenly interested in the physical and mental health of their employees and the ways businesses try to maintain and improve employee health. Through class activities and visits by executives, students will also learn about ways to maintain personal physical and mental health and how that can enhance their future career pursuits.4
Professor: Dr. Chester Spell, Associate Professor of Human Resources Management. Dr. Spell has researched and written on various human resources topics such as adoption of employee substance abuse programs, the benefits organizations provide to employees to help balance work and family demands, and employee perceptions of the fairness of their benefits packages. Besides the considerable knowledge of Dr. Spell, there will be numerous guest speakers who will also offer their experience and expertise to seminar participants on the subject matter. The seminar provides a tremendous networking opportunity for participating students.4
Qualifications: Any SBC student of sophomore standing or higher is eligible to apply for the seminar, and the 3 credits earned from the seminar are accepted as a business elective for most majors/concentrations. A student can take the seminar without completing any of the other requirements for the BLDP.
Time: Friday mornings from 9 to 11:40 a.m.

Faculty News Dr. SNEHAMAY BANERJEE (associate professor, SBC-management) has been elected president of the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute, a professional organization of academicians and practitioners interested in the application of quantitative and behavioral methods to the problems of society.
Dr. BRIAN HOLTZ (assistant professor, SBC-management) has published an article, “Fair Today, Fair Tomorrow? A Longitudinal Investigation of Overall Justice Perceptions,” in the recent edition of the Journal of Applied Psychology.
Dr. BRIANCE MASCARENHAS (professor, SBC-management) published an article, “The Emerging CEO Agenda,” in the September edition of the Journal of International Management, one of the world’s top scholarly journals in the area of international management.
Dr. RONALDO PARENTE (assistant professor, SBC-management) has had two co-authored articles accepted for publication in the Journal of International Management: “The Effect of Supply Chain Integration, Modular Production, and Cultural Distance on New Product Development: A Dynamic Capability Approach” and “Distribution Systems of Global Insurers: A Cultural Perspective on Entry Mode Selection.”
Dr. JULIE RUTH (associate professor, SBC-marketing) was the lead author on a coauthored paper, "The Influence of Change-focused Advertising Appeals and Self-Referencing on Persuasion," that received the American Marketing Association's Best Paper Award at the 2009 Summer Educators' Conference. The paper also received the Best Paper Award for the Consumer Psychology & Behavior Track.
Dr. ALOK BAVEJA (professor, SBC-management) has co-authored an article, COURIER-POST, Sept. 29 Headlined “Online program at Rutgers helps jobless,” a news story at the top of the front page of the South Jersey section spotlighted a Rutgers School of Business–Camden initiative designed to assist unemployed New Jersey citizens.
