Accounting
MBA Concentration

MBA Concentration requires the following courses: Accounting for Financial Reporting (010:502), Accounting for Managerial Decisions (010:503) plus at least three elective courses from the accounting field offered by the MBA Program.

Accounting Concentration provides opportunities in wide variety of fields for employment such as corporate accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, cost analysis, public accounting (auditing), and internal auditing and financial Analysis. Organizations that offer accounting jobs are numerous including all business firms, accounting firms, government and other non-profit organizations, the Internal Revenue Service, the CIA and the FBI.

Accounting Concentration can also be used for certification in public accounting (CPA), Internal Auditing (CIA) and management accounting (CMA).

Information about the specific requirements for sitting for the CPA, CIA, or CMA can be obtained from the organizations running these tests such as the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA) for the CPA. There are different requirements for education and experience among the states in which the test is taken. Students also need to consult the specific web site of the state in which they would like to be certified.

For more information about the specific courses needed for certification consult the MBA Program Director or the Accounting Area Coordinator.
