BizEd
2009: Student Information
APPLYING FOR THE BIZED PROGRAM
Three high school junior students are nominated by the participating
schools in early spring for the summer BizEd program. Final student
selections are made by Rutgers School of Business and we strive to
accommodate the maximum number of schools within the constraint of the
program. Students should contact their guidance counselors as early as
January to be considered for the BizEd summer program. For additional
information contact Mary Ann D’Orazio at
dorazio@camden.rutgers.edu
DATES and TIMES
BizEd will be held Monday through Friday, July 13-17, and again
Monday through Friday, July 20 to 24. Each day will begin promptly at
9 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. with the exception of Friday, July 24;
during that evening, you and your family are invited to attend a
commencement event at Rutgers-Camden.
WHERE TO GO
On day one, you will report to room 334 on the third
floor of the Business and Science Building, located on Third Street
between Cooper Street and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on the
Rutgers-Camden campus. Your itinerary for the rest of the week will be
provided at that introductory session.
DIRECTIONS
Rutgers University’s Camden campus is extremely convenient to such major
highways as 676, 38, 130 and 70. We’re also one block away from the
PATCO Hi-Speed Line’s City Hall station in Camden, which is a popular
method of transportation for our college students. Directions to the
campus are available online at
www.rutgers.edu/kiosk/directions/CMDirections.html.
PARKING
Free parking will be reserved for students who choose to drive
themselves to Rutgers-Camden during BizEd. You need to notify us in
advance if you are driving a car; to do so, contact Mary Ann D’Orazio at
(856) 225-6217 or
dorazio@camden.rutgers.edu and let her know if you plan to
drive; we only need to plan for those students who will occupy a parking
space.
ATTENDANCE
There’s a lot to experience during these two weeks, and BizEd students
are expected to attend every session. Since our goal is to provide you
with a comprehensive overview of business education and practice, any
student who misses two or more days will not be able to receive
certification of course completion.
MEALS
Complimentary lunch and two snack breaks will be provided as part of
your BizEd enrollment. Lunch options and beverages will be provided.
Students with specific dietary restrictions should notify Mary Ann
D’Orazio at (856) 225-6217 or
dorazio@camden.rutgers.edu.
ATTIRE
Students are asked to follow a corporate casual dress code during BizEd
sessions
GRADUATION
As mentioned earlier, the Rutgers University School of Business at
Camden will host a special commencement ceremony on Friday, July 24,
2009.
Your family is invited to join in the celebration. Invitations with
directions will be mailed to your home address.
